All nameplates are etched metal, either 12thou (0.3mm) high grade stainless steel or 12thou (0.3mm) high grade brass. These are then painted and polished with the appropriate background colour. No cutting or filing is required as they have no superfluous surround which can be easily damaged when the plate is extracted from them. What you see is what you get.
